(August 17 & September 17, 2010) Butch Graham had the liner with its rebuilt and restored bodywork, new red paint on the salt flats at Speed Week in August and World of Speed in September.

In August, he displayed it in the pit area under a canopy for the duration of the meet.  On the 4th day of the event, he and some helpers pushed it out onto the salt surface to the northwest of the pits for a photo op.  I was fortunate enough to be there.

Even with its slightly ungainly shape, the liner looks beautiful against the white of the salt, the muted brown of the mountains and the cobalt blue of the sky.  I can only imagine what people might have thought when they saw it for the first time in 1958, even though it wasn't allowed to run that year, let alone 1959 and 1960 when it left the starting line without a push or clutch engagement...or even a shift

Butch brought the liner back for the Utah Salt Flats Racing Association's World of Speed event in September.  This time it was parked by the pit entrance where it was impossible to miss as racers and spectators and gearheads of every sort passed through on their way in and out.

This wraps up the story. I haven't heard anything more from Butch or Richard about the status of the liner. I hope it will end up in a museum where it can be shared with other LSR enthusiasts and history buffs.
