In February 1998, we had a little problem with this car. After changing carburetors, there was a teensy little fire in the
engine compartment....burned the whole top of then motor off...bummer. Now it's known as the Kentucky Fried Camaro.
When I first looked at the motor I didn't think it was too bad...just a few burned wires and
some scorching here and there
Then I looked a little more closely and saw that most of the wiring harnesses were just strands of wire...and that shapeless mass in the back?
That used to be the distributor. I decided that I didn't want to attempt a complete underhood re-wiring job.
So, the KFC is gone now. It was donated to Granger High School in West Valley City, Utah, for their
auto mechanics' program. We wish it a peaceful afterlife. :)
