After the disasterous experiment with the Pentax 35mm camera, I went back to the Sony Cybershot point 'n shoot camera that I'd been using for a couple of years.
It worked fairly well when the lighting was consistent. It just didn't do very well with partial shade and glare spots.
It took a lot of editing to get halfway acceptable shots and I ended up discarding a lot of shots I wish I'd been able to keep.
Because of these problems with the 35mm (plus some real problems getting film processed) and the point 'n shoot, the writing was on the wall.
It was almost time to upgrade the camera equipment.
