World's Fastest Indian: Day 6

We had to walk a half-mile or so to where they were serving lunch. Along the way, we passed that old gas station. This 55 Corvette has been parked there for years and years.

August 19, 2005 Update: I got an email from the gentleman who's owned that Corvette for 30 years. Here's what he had to say:

"I lived in Wendover for 4 years, moved to Reno in 2002. Lonnie Clark, owner of "The Shop" is putting the motor and trans together and I'll be bringing it back to Reno very soon to start working on it again. I have owned the car for thirty years, a move from Hawaii, and a trip around Nevada, a wife and two children "delayed" the rebuild. But now, the '55 will have it's own garage and a well deserved restoration. I have all the parts in boxes and finally the time to play with it again. "

04/13/08 Update: The owner of the Corvette has not been idle. He sent be some photos of the restoration process and I offered to put them on my server. He's done a wonderful job of a frame-off resto. It's not quite complete but the transformation is remarkable. Here's a link to the resto photos.
