Bonneville Salt Flats 2004

This was my second year at the salt flats but my first time for the beginning of Speed Week

Speed Week: August 13/16, 2004

Here are some shots of the Speed Week event at Bonneville taken during August. I was fairly sick during the time that I was out there, but I was trying to ignore it. Didn't work. All didn't go well and I ended up in the hospital about a week after I got home. I spent a week at one hospital where they told me that I needed to improve my diet and get more exercise. Then I went to my regular doctor, who sent me to a different hospital. They did an angiogram and decided to keep me there for quadruple bypass surgery. That sort of eliminated the chance to run the Camaro in the 130 class, since that's a USFRA class which is only run in September. Besides, the doc told me "no racing this year." Bummer. But I made it out for World Finals...and for the movie filming.

World's Fastest Indian: October 6/13, 2004

What's a section about a movie doing here? Well, it was filmed on the salt flats and my truck was used as a "period vehicle." I was there for all the filming, although I didn't do anything but put the truck where they wanted it...ohh..and recover from the surgery.

World Finals: October 13/16, 2004

Since I was on the salt for the movie thing, I stayed for the SCTA-BNI World Finals meet. It's the last LSR meet at Bonneville for the year. It's looks funny since the web pages start with Day 2. But that's because I was on the movie set for the first day. I sure enjoyed the 3 days I was there, though.
