The Buckeye Bullet. An electric car built by Ohio State engineering students. It uses between 13,000 and 15,000 battery cells, producing 900 volts. That voltage is then converted to 3-phase AC current to run the drive motor. They had some problems, but eventually set a record of 256 mph.
