This was the first day drivers meeting. The basic rules were stated and the course layout was explaned. Due to the condition of the salt (high water...as if that wasn't apparent) they only ran one course which combined the long (7 miles) and short (3 miles) courses. The short course cars (under 175 mph) ran the first 3 mile section and the long course cars (the real fast ones) ran the entire course.
