Some stuff gets fixed



It had a broken sway bar end link that I replaced....and I also replaced the left upper control arm bushings because they were collapsed. No pics of that, tho.



I bought a used nose fascia on E-bay and then removed the old, bashed-in one.



The radiator air box and headlight support were kinda bent up.



A little creative application of my favorite tool (the BFH) straightened things out pretty nicely.



Here the headlight assembly is back in and the bumper cushion re-fastened to the metal bumper.



I had to borrow the upper air box panel from the 85 Monte. GM wants $138 for one...if you can find it. I may see if I can fabricate something. I couldn't help myself as far as painting it. I just couldn't put it back together without some sorta paint job.



Here's the new nose about 80 percent attached.

Finally, I got a new key made for the trunk (had to crawl in thru the back seat, unbolt the latch and open it that way.) The gas struts were junk, but I found (thanks to Dan Maughmer) a company called MSCDdirect that sells (among other things) replacement gas struts. The part number for the units I used is GGS44-100-K. Click the part number to go directly to the page. I paid $19 and change for the pair...they fit and work great and it beats the $50 per pair that I've been quoted for used parts.

Ohhh...we didn't find Jimmy Hoffa or a big stash of drug money in the trunk. (Dammit!) Just some junk and the bags for the T-tops. I was really counting on that money to put a 502 big block in it, too. :)

A strange thing happened after I went to the Bonneville Salt Flats that year. I decided that I wanted to race on the salt. All of a sudden my priorities changed. As a result, I sold the Coupe to a gentleman in Texas who's doing a full restoration on it.
