Replacing the floor pans

Well, here's what we found when we pulled up the carpets. Cleaning and vacuuming didn't make things look much better.

We had to chisel the "bear-snot" out of the channels in order to start fitting the new sheet metal.

WE marked the seat track and seat belt bolt holes so I wouldn't lose 'em.

We cut the old rusty metal out with a Sawzall. Man! Is that a great tool or what?

We had to chisel some of the spot welds off so that the subframe channel would be exposed for rustproofing.

It took several trials to get the proper fit.

One side down, one to go.

The passenger side is cut out and ready for test fitting.

Well, both pans are in place ready for welding or riveting. It's a heck of a lot better than the way it was. This took about 3 hours work for two people.

We laid down the sound deadener pads over the new sheet metal and then set the carpet on top.

The new ACC carpet is setting in place, flattening itself out. It'll get completly installed when the paint's done.
