The new motor [2]
The new motor is back from the machine shop. It's been bored .040 over and the crank turned .010 under.
It'll displace 357 cubic inches.
The main bearings are going in. You can see the new freeze plugs. New cam bearings were also installed.
The crank and main caps have been installed.
Steve just torques these down to about 70 foot-pounds...
Ok. After a lengthy battle to get right slugs in the right holes and the right rod caps on,
the bottom end is finally together. Many thanks go out to the members of the Nova list for their help in
diagnosing a misplaced rod cap problem
Here's the correct direction for the rod caps to point, with the tangs facing away from each other.
All the nice shiny pistons are in their nice shiny holes.
Here's Steve greasing up the shaft. (Don't even think it.)
And it slides right in. Next up is the timing chain.
And the chain goes on. It's a single row chain that should work nicely in this application.
