Life after death

(01/19/01) Update: The CompuCam 2040 decided to flatten out one of its lobes right around the first of 2001. So this is giving me a chance to create a real fire-breathing monster.

Here's what's planned:
Dyno2000 projects 518 hp@6000 rpm. I can hardly wait.

(06/07/02) Here's the D2K chart.

After a LONG delay due to buying a house, finishing a bunch of other projects and a coupla trips across the country, I'm ready to jump in here.

The cam is on order, the garage is free of other projects...it looks like time to start on the rebuild.

(06/16/02) The project is underway. The car is in the garage and the hood is off. Now it's time to start tearing it down.

Since it was Father's Day, I didn't spend quite as much time as I wanted on it. But I got a start on it. The radiator, most of the accessories and a whole lot of the wiring is disconnected and/or removed. I made sure to mark all the connectors with permanent marker. One of the last times I did this, I marked them with water-soluable ink and then washed the engine compartment. That wasn't too smart. I hope the permanent marking helps this go back together a little quicker.

(06/29/02) About time I got back to it, huh? Seems like there are too many things to be done. But I finally got it all disconnected and the cherry picker bolted up.

Then I pumped away on the old handle and out it came.

And here it sits, waiting to be torn down and rebuilt.

(06/30/02) I got a little done today. I unbolted the tranny and torque converter and strapped them on the tranny jack. Now to decide whether to build or buy a tranny before it goes back together.

I also got the motor on the stand, and removed a few items like the headers and flexplate and starter.
