Reinstalling the motor, part 2
I thought it might be a good idea to install a remote solenoid, just in case the starter got a little warm.
It's worked well in my other cars, so I did this while I had things apart.
Then I slathered a bead of RTV on the front and rear block rails on preparation for the intake.
I sprayed the intake gasket with Permatex copper adhesive and...
...bolted the whole mess together. That's a Weiand single-plane manifold with EGR fitting.
Then I began to mount the Pyrometer brain box...except that the heater hose got in the way.
A few minutes with a hacksaw and a mill file took care of that.
Fits just fine now.
Then there was that little EGR thing. Even with an extra spacer, the EGR valve still hit the tall valve cover.
I got an Edelbrock adapter, but it didn't play well with the Weiand manifold. So I covered everything up and got out the high-speed grinder.
Then I ground away at the threaded boss on the manifold until the adapter fit without interference.
Here's a pic of the mutilated manifold.
