A 1967 Camaro RS/SS350
(02/22/02) Here it is, parked in the previous owner's driveway in Louisiana. We flew from Salt Lake City to New Orleans to buy the car.
Ironically we left Salt Lake on the same day that many of the athletes were leaving the Winter Olympic Games...so the airport was mobbed...even at 5:30 in the morning.
And here it is at home with the other Chevy Asylum Inmates. The trip from Louisiana to Utah was long (1900 miles) but uneventful.
We enjoyed the car and the trip a whole lot. It ran flawlessly all the way and got fairly good gas mileage, too...although I didn't measure it exactly,
I guestimate it to have averaged about 18 mpg on the trip.
Here's the interior. It needs a few cosmetic items to get it into tip-top shape...like a carpet and a dash pad...and I'll probably recover the seats, too.
One of the real nice features of the car is semi-visible in this pic. The transmission. It's a Tremec 5-speed. It's unbelievably smooth and the overdrive 5th gear is great for cruising.
The engine room. This is a 355 (.030 over 350) with Vortec heads and 272 cam. Dyno2000 estimates 378 hp. It might be close...it's pretty peppy.
It also has an Edelbrock 1406 carb and a Jacobs electronic ignition. We'll have to clean it up a little bit, though.
