1964 C10 "The Ugly Truck"

Here's the Ugly Truck as I first saw it...November 20, 2003.

I had wondered what I was gonna drive this winter. The El Camino helped me make a decision when it broke its rear end.

I looked in the local paper and this truck was advertised for $800.

The bed is slightly rough, but whaddya want for one that's been sitting out in the elements for 40 years?

The seller told me that it had a 235 cubic inch motor. It wasn't until I did some checking that I found out it was actually a 292.

How about those leopard skin seat covers, huh?

It's got a granny 4-speed and a HUGE steering wheel.

6-lug wheels and VERY rusty fenders.

The other side of the motor. Didn't look any cleaner on this side.

I figgered that if I was gonna drive a farmer's truck, I might as well get me a farmer's straw hat. Paid a buck at a thrift store on the way home.
