Rufus: Even more wiring (this better come to an end soon.)
(08/17/2006) These are the new reflectors and halogen bulbs...along with the turn signal lamps as they're about to be installed.
The headlight/horn wiring is getting connected up.
The reflectors and rings are test fit.
Finally, the reflectors, lamps, rings and lenses are all assembled.
(08/16/06) It's a long story, but these are 1928 lenses. It's gonna drive the purists nuts. (I hope.)
I decided to mount a generic headlight switch on the "dash board" rather than try to make the stock (and missing) steering wheel center switch work.
The horn button is held in place with tape to get an idea of how it'll all work together.
(08/21/06) A friend from the El Camino list sent me a 12 volt "Ahooga" horn. I painted it satin black and tested it. Works fine.
I decided (read: got nagged by one of my friends) to enclose the wires in conduit. Maybe it ain't real ratty, but it otta keep a lotta salt outta the wiring.
And I relocated the Maxi-fuse to the firewall so that I could put a cover over it, again, to keep salt and water out of it.
Plastic conduit across the front crossmember and on the right side.
Then it runs up the firewall and over the coil. I gotta get an eyeball to put in that fuel sediment bowl. Anybody got a spare one? :)
There's still a rat's nest inside.
Here's the turn signal unit.
(08/25/06) Hey! The headlights work!
So do the taillights, even tho they're hard to see in the light.
Think this plate will work?
