I've wanted a hot rod ever since I was old enough to say the words. For one reason or another, I never got into the "old iron" scene.
When I sold the Camaro and the Nova (and made arrangements...which are still in the works...to sell the El Camino) I thought it might be a good time to start over.
So we planned the trip to deliver the cars to the buyer in Iowa, then swing up to Minnesota where a guy (Rudy Rolfes) has a whole bunch of Model As.
I looked them over and decided that the closed cab pickup was the one for me.
My plans at the moment are to do just what I might have done if it was magically 1963 again and I was 16 years old. I'd get it running in a stock configuration,
then hop up the Model A 4-banger (See Charlie Yapp's site for Model A and T hopup info) and run it that way for a while
Then it'll probably get a flathead V8, just for the nostalgia value. And eventually, it may get a Caddy or Nailhead Buick motor, just to bring it into the OHV world.
I'm anticipating that this will be a long-term project and should be the only one I'm working on (except for the race car and maintenance on the truck) for quite a while. But
things have a way of changing, so we'll just have to see what happens as time passes. It's getting closer and closer to coming into the garage and "going under the knife", so to speak.
Anyway, these pics should give an idea of what I'm starting with.
